Medical Scales
In the medical field, there is little to no room for error. That’s why the health care field depends on the precision of medical scales to get the accurate weight of each and every patient.
Clinics, hospitals, and doctors use mechanical balance beam and digital medical scales to ascertain the true weight of their patients in order to determine prescription dosages, diet plans, and exercise and fitness programs.
Medical scales are more highly calibrated than the bathroom scales we use at home. They have a greater weight capacity and are made of longer lasting, more durable material, like steel, to ensure years of constant use. Some physicians prefer the balance beam scales to their digital counterparts, but most agree that both provide very accurate weights to the quarter pound. Medical scales can also be set to provide weight in kilograms.
An additional bonus of the medical scales over a step-on household scale is its capability to measure height. Most medical scales offer a height feature, which utilizes a sliding bar which provides an accurate height value.
Medical scales are available for almost any purpose. Bariatric scales are specially built to accommodate obese patients, while special infant scales gauge the progress of newborns and infants. Other medical scales include those which accommodate wheelchairs, chairs for non-ambulatory patients, in-bed hospital scales, as well as portable scales which are easily transported by licensed home health care providers.
